AYA powers ahead in Sierra Leone

Monitoring and training of AYA groups in Sept/Oct 2020

AYA ACTIVITY REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER, 2020.

On the 6th of September, and the 12th of September, 2020, our AYA Co-ordinator visited Nyanyahun and Manosawallu village respectively to see and discuss issues relating to the progress of the Africa Youth Award and also to check what is happening in the groups since COVID 19 had affected the country. However all the youths of Nyanyahun and Manosawallu community that are part of AYA were affected by the COVIDE 19, so not all were present during my visitation.

The AYA groups in the above areas have completed their AYA Silver course, and they were looking forward to the graduation, to enable them to start their AYA Gold course. All of the youth are still carrying on the various skill developments such as painting, carpentry, soap making, and block lying.

Furthermore, on the 22nd and the 28th of September, 2020. Visited Beudu, Pendembu, Daru and Segbewama towns. The purpose of my visitation was to educate the AYA youths about the important of the use of facemask, regular hand wishing as well as social distancing for them not to be affected by COVID  19. Some of the groups are temporarily suspended and new groups are waiting to start as soon as resources and COVID regulations allow.

Lastly all the above communities were visited for the second time to see and understand how they are coping and give them words of encouragement, and to see how they are doing their skills work as well as their Christian services in their various churches. The youth in general spoke positively about AYA in their Christian lives. Some can now do many things to support themselves and their family from the various skills learned.
