In Rukooki again with The Aall Foundation
From 9 – 10th December 2024, the Lifewater team, joined by six Africa Youth Award members, conducted training and distribution sessions at Rukooki Life Messenger Church.
The Lifewater project has played a big role in saving many families from water-borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and bilharzia, which, for a long time, have endangered many lives here in East Africa.
Looking at testimonies coming from different areas where Lifewater has extended its support, we realize that common water-borne diseases have dramatically reduced leading to a big improvement in public health. Such is the impact Lifewater systems have had in different areas where these services have reached.
Behind the scenes, The Aall Foundation has been a champion in helping us in fighting these diseases by sponsoring a very large number of Lifewater systems across East Africa, from Kenya in the East, through Uganda to Rwanda in Central Africa.

The strategy that Lifewater projects use in an area, is to begin by focusing on locations where there are real challenges surrounding unsafe drinking water. A village would be selected for a first distribution, which would then be followed by further villages being selected in the neighbouring area until the whole area has been covered effectively. Rukooki is such an area, where four areas have now been reached, with 443 households benefitting from the Project.
MOBILIZATION
The AYA team led by Gataha Alex did a great job in mobilising 125 beneficiaries, guided by Pastor Jane Mudde who has previously assisted in this work.
The team did this work early enough moving from house to house registering people as they showed them how the system works. They did the pre-visitation training during the mobilization and registration of beneficiaries.
The training involved:
- Awareness of the need for personal hygiene
- Awareness about waterborne diseases
- Introducing the ceramic water filter, explaining the simple technology used to purify water from bacteria and other micro-organisms
- Instructing beneficiaries on how to connect their Lifewater system
The beneficiaries enjoyed the thorough training helping them to appreciate the valuable gift of Lifewater that they were receiving.
On 9th December. 53 families received their Lifewater system; on 10th December, a further 72 families benefitted. Altogether 125 local families benefitted from the distribution.
CONCLUSION:
Firstly, we bring appreciation from different beneficiaries in Rukooki village who were extremely happy, sending Lifewater team members to pass on their thanks to the sponsors.
We also thank God who prompted The Aall Foundation to send the funding with a goal of saving lives here in Africa.
Lastly, thanks are extended to all stakeholders who made it possible for this distribution to be so successful.
