The 2024/2025 The Aall Foundation village sponsorship projects concluded with Nyakasojo village distribution in January 2025
Nyakasojo is a village on Mount Rwenzori above Kasese town, Nyakabingo subcounty, Kasese district.
After people had discovered that there were systems that purify water being donated in their area, leaders in three villages started requesting for Lifewater intervention in their villages. These leaders were from Nyakasojo on the north of Kasese town, Karusandara on the south & Kinyateke on the east of the town. These are areas well known to have suffered with very poor water quality for a long time. We thank God because Nyakasojo has finally benefitted, hoping that these other two villages will also benefit in the near future.
The Chairman Local Council 1 and his Vice-Chairman, together with the Village Health Team took the initiative to mobilise the people in Nyakasojo area, training them how to construct Lifewater stands in readiness for the Lifewater systems. This was done a month before the distribution took place, resulting in at least 90% of the beneficiaries being ready with stands on the workshop days. The hardworking leadership team in Nyakasojo village really encouraged the Lifewater team by their excellent preparation.
The distribution exercise took place from 7-8th January 2025 on the land next to the Local Council 1 offices.
On 7th January, 68 families received their Lifewater systems, with the balance of 57 families benefiting the following day.
During the distribution, the local AYA team members played a big role in arranging the systems and registering beneficiaries. The workshops were handled by Lifewater field officers who flow in the local language spoken in that particular area.
As the demand for Lifewater systems is very high in every village we visit, we always print invitation cards, according to the number of the systems we are going to donate. The card has details of the names of the beneficiary, the date to attend the training and the signature of the local leader to verify that the beneficiary belongs to that particular village.
This method helps us firstly to avoid uninvited people, and secondly to distinguish between beneficiaries who are invited to workshops on the first and second days as registered by the local leaders.
The workshops were managed by dividing the recipients into two groups each day. The first 30 – 35 people were registered and trained and the next group, who arrived later, followed in the afternoon.
We are proud of The Aall Foundation for the great support given to villages where the water quality has been so poor.
Secondly, we want to thank the UK board for the love shown to Africa, they have ensured that hearts and lives are changing in Africa.
Lastly thanks to the Lifewater team in Uganda for the good job carried out.
